Volunteer
The people we serve are up against prosecutors, deadlines, and a system that rarely slows down for them. Volunteers are how we even the odds — attorneys and law students, letter-writers and drivers, anyone willing to give an hour to someone who needs one.
Every case we take on, every letter we answer, and every family we walk into a courtroom with is made possible by volunteers. You don’t need a law degree — you just need to care enough to show up.
Ways to help
Take a pro bono case, review filings, or advise our team on strategy. Even a few hours of a lawyer’s time can change the direction of someone’s life.
Help with intake, organize case files, and dig into legal research. Real experience, real stakes, real good done along the way.
Many of the people we serve are isolated behind walls. Become a steady point of contact — a consistent voice from the outside who remembers their name.
Sit with families during hearings, help them make sense of paperwork, and make sure no one has to walk into a courtroom by themselves.
Spread the word, help organize drives and community events, and connect us with the people and partners who need to know we exist.
Writers, designers, bookkeepers, translators, drivers — nearly every skill has a home in this work. Tell us what you do well.
What it looks like
Ordinary hours, given by ordinary people, adding up to something a courtroom can’t ignore.
What we ask
Getting started
Email or call and tell us a little about yourself and how you’d like to help.
A short, friendly conversation to find the role that fits your time and your strengths.
A quick orientation, and then you’re part of the team — doing work that matters.
Ready to help?
Send us a note with a bit about yourself and what you’d like to do. A real person will read it and get back to you — no lengthy application, no runaround.
Give your time if you have it, or give what you can — either way, you’re standing with people who need someone in their corner.
